Elektrody  DropSens (IDE) składają się z dwóch naprzemiennych elektrod z dwiema ścieżkami łączącymi, na szklanym lub plastikowym podłożu.

Te IDE oferują szereg korzyści, takich jak praca z małymi objętościami próbki i unikanie żmudnego polerowania elektrod.

Konfiguracja naprzemienna zazwyczaj zwiększa czułość i granice wykrywalności.

Nadają się do analiz,  opracowywania specyficznych (bio)czujników i innych badań elektrochemicznych.
